- Unidirectional Axial Load: Single-row angular contact bearings can only withstand axial forces in one direction. Therefore, they are usually used in pairs (e.g., back-to-back DB, face-to-face DF, or tandem DT) to balance axial forces or improve rigidity.
- High Speed and High Precision: Compared to deep groove ball bearings, angular contact bearings (especially those with small contact angles) are more suitable for high-speed operation and generally offer higher rotational accuracy.
- Preload: Preload is typically applied when used in pairs to eliminate internal clearance and improve bearing rigidity and rotational accuracy.
Basic Structure and Principle
- The inner and outer raceways of this type of bearing have relative displacement along the bearing axis, thus enabling it to withstand both radial loads and axial loads in a single direction simultaneously.
- Contact Angle: This is its core characteristic. The line connecting the contact points of the balls and raceways forms an angle with the radial plane (commonly 15°, 25°, or 40°). The larger the contact angle, the higher the ability to withstand axial loads; the smaller the contact angle, the more suitable it is for high-speed rotation.
- Machine tool spindles (high precision, high speed).
- High-frequency motors.
- Centrifuges.
- Automotive wheel hubs (partial design).
